Sahara desert and Marrakech departing from Fes
Day 1: Fes – Azrou – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga dunes.
Driving on the road from Fes, passing the Middle Atlas mountains and through the cedar forests well known all over the world. Cedar was already used from the Phoenician times and Roman time for woodcraft, essences and Building even ancient Marine boats.
We pass through Ifran, Moroccan Swiss style of town and Azrou, typical Zayan Middle Atlas Berber village.
We will cross than the valley of Ziz and Ziz gorges on the way to Merzouga dunes Town of Erfoud. From Erfoud we will take a rock desert trail to Merzouga. Overnight Inn hotel near the dunes.
Day 2: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – Merzouga.The day is Dedicated to discover the oriental Sahara desert. We will drive in the desert with 4×4, visiting the nomads, Oasis and the dunes of Erg Chebbi. We go to the village of the dark skin people Khamlia to enjoy original and ethnical music of the Gnawa people. From there back to the Hotel. Camel riding at sunset and stay over in Berber tent in the heart of the dunes. A day full of adventure and culture.
Day 3: Merzouga – Todra gorges – Ouarzazate.
Early morning wake up for camel riding and outstanding sunrise. Arriving to the hotel for refreshing and breakfast. We will cross the town of Rissani and Tafilalet,the center of allaouit dynastie, on the way to the stunning Todra Gorges and overlooking the valley from the hillside. We pass through the great village of Boumalne Dades.
We continue on the deep Rose valley. The valley known for it’s cultivation of Roses. Different colored mountains and crossing palm trees, sweat corn and figs cultivation. we came across numerous Kasbah ruins of all shapes known also the road of thousands Kasbahs. arriving evening time to Ouarzazate. Overnight Riad.
Day 4: Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech.From Ouarzazate driving to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, Mother of all Kasbahs. Enchanting Berber architectural strusture about 800 years old. Once arriving to the top of the Kasbah hill a great view to the ancient caravan roads to Marrakech and the far Peaks of the high Atlas mountains. Visit of the Kasbah ruins that still reveals the ancient culture of the Kasbah inhabitants.
We will continue on a path road, about 8 km, on top of the mountains, that converge the main road to Marrakech. Passing through the valley of Almand trees, the Berber Shluh of Amerzgan,Agouim and Ighrem, We will arrive to the Tizi N Tichka pass (2260 m.alt). Lunch at the Berber village of Tadart.
We will arrive to Marrakech evening time.
